感染予防対策について

レッスン実施にあたりましては、生徒の皆様の安全を第一に、安心して楽しく学んでいただけるよう、換気や消毒などの感染予防措置を徹底いたします。詳細は「コロナウイルス感染予防のために教室側が行う手順」をご参照ください。生徒さんの体温は非接触体温計を利用して測定します。当面、教室の隣の広い部屋でレッスンを行い、お茶のサービスは休止します。

受講に際してのお願い　(子ども・おとな同様)

1. ご自身・ご同伴者に次の症状がある方は、受講をお控えください。
   ・37.5度以上の発熱がある方
   ・咳などの風邪症状が見られる方

2．教室に到着したら、レッスンを始める前に手を洗ってください。また、教室に到着または退室する際は、付属の手指消毒剤をご利用ください。

３．他の生徒さんを守るためマスクを着用してください。

４．生徒同士の接触をなるべく避けてください。

この度の新型コロナウイルス感染症によりお亡くなりになられた方のご冥福を心よりお祈り申し上げるとともに、ご遺族の方々に謹んでお悔やみ申し上げます。
また、医療従事者はじめ、感染拡大防止にご尽力されている皆さまに深謝申し上げます。

当スクールは、新型コロナウイルスの対策のため、4月1日より5月6日まで臨時休校とさせて頂きます。尚レッスンの再開は国、各自治体からの命令や要請により又は当スクールの判断により延期される場合がございます。長期的な影響に備えて当スクールはできる限りオンラインでもレッスンが出来ます様に準備を進めています。現時点では、オンラインレッスンに関して、現在の生徒さんが優先されます。臨時休校の期間中、体験レッスンお申し込みは可能ですが、スクール再開後に日程をご提案させていただきます。ご不便をおかけして申し訳ございませんが、ご理解とご協力をお願いいたします。

We would like to offer our deepest condolences and sympathies to all those affected by the Novel Coronavirus. Our thoughts are with the families who have lost loved ones. We would also like to express our gratitude to medical staff and other key workers who are fighting on our behalf every day to stop the spread of the virus. 

In order to prevent further spread of the Novel Coronavirus, our school will be temporarily closed from April 1st to May 6th. Please note that the resumption of lessons may be further postponed by order or request from the national or local goverment, or at the discretion of the school. We are doing our best to adapt our business and teaching style to cope with the long-term effects of the present situation and, therefore,  we are currently working on making online lessons possible. At the moment, our present students will be given priority access to those lessons. During our temporary closure, it is still possible to apply for a trial lessons, but the lesson itself will take place at a later date once our school has reopened. We apologize for the any inconvenience caused but thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

ホワイトローズの生徒の皆さんへ、

いつも大変お世話になっております。今日は、このホワイトローズ英語教室に関する重要な決定事項について報告し、皆様に説明したいと思います。毎日、コロナウイルスはますます多くの国に影響を及ぼしています。エミレーツなどの大手航空会社は、すべての旅客運航のキャンセルを発表しています。そして、日本では、ついにオリンピックが延期または中止される可能性があることが発表されました。日本国民に「ロックダウン」が課せられる可能性についてテレビで多くの話があります。3月、全学校が閉鎖され時、皆様に少しでもの正常感を持っていただけるように教室を開いたままにしておくことにしました。マスクの着用や手洗いなどのご協力して頂きありがとうございます。机等の消毒をまめにこなして、皆さんがこの教室に通い続けられるように教室側として最善を尽くしたつもりです。お陰様で、この一か月間を皆で無事に乗り越えました。しかし、このスクールと皆様の安全への責任を深く感じましたし、イギリスにいる家族に対する心配によって、私自身の体調が少しずつ崩れてきました。また、日本でのコロノウイルスの広がりが非常に心配であり、長期的な影響に備えて当スクールをできる限り準備したいと思っています。

先日、ラインを通して、これからのことについて皆様の意見を聞かせて頂きました。たくさんの生徒さんからご回答いただきました。ありがとうございます。皆様の意見をすべて真剣に検討しました。オンラインレッスンを試してみたい方がいますし、その一方で通常通り教室でのレッスンを希望する生徒さんもいます。これらの意見や自分の今の気持ちをすべて検討した後、4月に教室を閉鎖するという非常に難しい決定を下しました。4月中に、興味のある人とオンラインレッスンシステムを試用してみます。今週、これらのレッスンに関する詳細な手紙を配布します。ただし、教室が通常どおりに開くまで（5月に願っています）待つことを好む生徒さんの気持ちも十分に理解しています。この決定により、当スクールを退会することを希望する生徒さんもいると思いますが教室側としての約束を守らなかったことを心からお詫び申し上げます。当スクールとその生徒さんにとって何が最善かを考えた後にこの決定を下しました。皆様に大変ご迷惑をおかけしますが、何卒ご理解とご協力をお願い致します。

Dear Students of White Rose CCC,

I hope that you are all doing well. Today I am writing to you with news and explanation of an important decision that I have had to make with regards to our classroom.

Every day, more and more countries are being affected by the coronavirus. Major airlines, such as Emirates, have announced that they are closing all global passenger operations for the near future. And in Japan, it was finally announced yesterday that there is a strong possibility of the Tokyo Olympics being postponed. On TV, there is much discussion of a ‘lock down’ being imposed on Japanese citizens, possibly in the near future. In March, when national schools closed down, I made the decision to keep our small school open in the hope that it would provide the students with a small sense of normality during a difficult time. Students wore masks during lessons and washed their hands upon arrival and I am grateful for their cooperation. Desks and other parts of the classroom were constantly disinfected and we did our best to ensure that students could continue to safely come to our school. Thanks to everyone’s help and cooperation, we were able to make it safely through this month. This is not a responsibility that I took lightly. At the same time I have been dealing worries about my family over in the UK and unfortunately, these have both  taken their toll on my health. As the risk of the coronvirus spreading even further in Japan grows, I also feel that I need to take the time to prepare my school to deal with this situation in the long term.

Several days ago, I asked my students to submit their opinions about our options for the near future. I am grateful to the many students who sent me a response and I have carefully considered each and every opinion or request. Some students have shown an interest in an online lesson trial, while others would prefer to continue with lessons in the classroom as usual. I have thought long and hard about the wishes of my students, as well as my personal feelings toward the situation as it stands. Sadly, I have had to make the extremely difficult decision to close my school for the month of April. For those interested, I will be setting up some trial online lessons during April. I will be handing out an document to explain this in more detail during our classes this week. I will, however, fully understand the feelings of those students who prefer to wait until our classroom re-opens (I am hoping to be able to do so in May). I also accept that, due to this decision, some students will choose to leave our school and I can only apologize that we were unable to offer our usual service as promised.

I believe that we have made the decision that is best for both this school and its students and can only apologize for the inconvenience that it will cause.

ホワイトローズ英語教室では、私は一人で全ての仕事をしていることを人々に話すとき、それが何を伴うのか忘れることさえあります。When I tell people that, at White Rose CCC,  I am a one-woman business, even I sometimes forget what that entails. ほとんどの日、私はこのスクールの唯一の講師ですが、その上に、カリキュラムデザイナー、バイヤー、会計士、事務員、受付、マーケティングマネージャー、ソーシャルメディアの担当、テクニカルサポート、親連絡担当者、翻訳者、ベーカー、クリーナー、そしてチラシを配る仕事もしています！On most days I am just a teacher, but my other ‘hats’ include that of curriculum designer, buyer, accountant, office clerk, receptionist, marketing manager, social media guru, technical support, parent liaison officer, translator, baker, cleaner and poster of flyers! はい、本当にすべてを一人でやっています。Yes, I literally do everything myself. ですから、もしあなたの郵便ポストにチラシが見つけたら、私自身がそこに入れました。So, if a flyer has landed in your mailbox, I was personally responsible for it being there. 失礼しました！Apologies for my intrusion.

昨日は晴れだったので、ここ数週間で配られた1000枚のチラシの最後の数百枚を投稿しに行きました。Yesterday, it was a bright sunny day, so I went out to post the last batch of the 1000 flyers that have gone out in the last few weeks. 散歩の途中で、昼食のために地元のカフェに立ち寄った。Half way through my walk, I stopped off at a local café for lunch. それは、個性がたくさんある独自のキャラクターを持った地元のカフェでした。It was one of those unique, local cafes that had a character all of its own with lots of personal touches. 周りを見回してみると、自分のビジネスについて考えるようになりました。

As I looked around, it got me to thinking about my own business. 他の皆と同じように、私は常に、世界中のほぼすべての都市にある有名なコーヒーショップのチェーン店でラテとスコーンを頂くのが結構好きです。 Like everyone else, I am always up for a latte and a scone at that famous chain of coffee shops that can be found in almost every city on the planet. あそこで出される物をよく知っています。価格を知っています。どの都市にいても同じサービスを利用できる可能性が高いことを知っています。I know what I’m getting. I know the price. I know that I am likely to get the same service regardless of what city I’m in. 試行錯誤されたマニュアルに従ってすべてが行われます。店に入る前に真剣に考えるや心配する必要がありません。Everything will be done according to their tried and tested manual. It’s a choice that doesn’t require any serious thinking or taking a gamble. しかし、「マヨネーズなしで」サンドイッチを頼むことができる店。。。または、「今日はバタバタしていて、すみませんね」と笑顔で言ってくれるオーナーがいっているユニークな喫茶店に行くのも大好きです。But, I also love to go to a one-off place where I might be able to ask for my sandwich without mayonnaise….or where the owner will smile at me and apologize that they are so busy. そういうところに初めて入ったときには何が期待できるかわかりませんが、その場所を大好きになってしまうかもしれません。I don’t know what to expect when I first walk in, but I might just end up loving the place.

習い事の教室を探すとき、同じような比較ができると思います。I think that the same kind of comparisons can be made when we look for a school or special interest classroom. 確立されたチェーンに行くことには確かに利点があります。There are certainly advantages to going to a well-established chain. コースは標準化されており、スケジュールにはおそらくフレキシビリティがあります。 そういう教室は皆様に知られているところだからこそ、安心することができます。Courses are standardized and the schedule is probably flexible. It can be reassuring to go with the ‘known’. 一人の講師しかいない、このホワイトローズでは大きなスクールと同じサービスを提供できません。As a one-woman business, I cannot even try to compare what we do at White Rose to any of the bigger chains of English language school. 私はすべてのクラスを自分で教えているため、スケジュールにフレキシビリティを持たせる余地はあまりなく、決まった教材を提供していません。I teach all of the classes myself and therefore there is a not much room for flexibility in the schedule and I don’t offer a ‘well-known menu’. しかし、私はこの教室で行われるすべてのことに個人的に責任を持ちます。。チラシを配ることまで。However, I am personally responsible for everything that goes on in the school….right down to posting the business flyers.

どちらかというと、ホワイトローズ英語教室は先ほどお話をした家族経営のユニークなカフェと同じだと思っています。I prefer to see myself as the family-run café. コースは必要に応じて準備され、特定のクラスに参加している生徒さんのニーズと希望に適合します。Courses are prepared as they are needed and fitted to the needs and wishes of the students who are attending a particular class. うちの教室に来られる生徒の一人ひとりは、「家族」の一員とみなされます。Each person who walks into our classroom is regarded as a member of our ‘family’. 子供のクラスでは、誕生日、ハロウィーン、クリスマスを一緒に祝います。In children’s classes, we celebrate birthdays, Halloween and Christmas together. 生まれ育ったイギリスを訪問するとき、私は大人の生徒が試してみたいと思うさまざまな種類のお茶を探します…そして彼らが興味を持ちそうな場所について調べて、皆が読めるブログを書きます。When I visit the UK, I look for different kinds of tea that I think my adult students might like to try….and research and write about places I think they might be interested in. 中学生や高校生の生徒さんが両親とけんかをしたとき、または嬉しいニュースについて話しをしたいきを知っています。I know when my high school students have had a fight with their parents or when they have exciting news to talk about. そして、レッスンについてお問合せを頂く時。。。希望されているものを提供することができないと思うなら、そのことを正直に言わせていただきます。And I turn away potential students if I think that I can’t provide what they are looking for.

The last destination on this ‘on location ‘ trip to the UK was a family day out to Cannon Hall and Cannon Hall Farm, a country house museum and farm located 5 miles west of Barnsley in South Yorkshire. This place has absolutely everything for a great day out with something to please every member of the family. Cannon Hall, a Georgian house set in 70 acres of beautiful parkland, now houses a museum. Entrance to both the parkland and the museum is entirely free, although a donation box is set up in the museum to encourage voluntary contributions. この「現地」旅行の最後の目的地は、サウスヨークシャーのバーンズリーから西に5マイルに位置するカントリーハウス博物館および農場であるキャノンホールファームへの家族の日帰りでした。この場所には、家族全員を喜ばせるものがあり、素晴らしい一日を過ごすのに必要なものがすべて揃っています。70エーカーの美しい公園にあるジョージ王朝様式のキャノンホールには、現在博物館があります。公園と博物館の両方への入場は完全に無料ですが、寄付ボックスが博物館に設置されています。

The farm is situated behind the hall. Families can see the day to day workings of a modern farmyard, meet the animals and enjoy playing in the adventure playground. Admission fee is currently £9.95 per person (adult and child) for the day. We didn’t go into the farm, but we did sit down for an ice cream in the small complex of eateries that are situated near the entrance to the farm. There’s even a dog-friendly café. The farm shop is also very much worth a visit, with fine quality meats as well as a large selection of speciality foods and gifts. 　農場はホールの後ろにあります。家族は、近代的な農場の日々の仕事を見たり、動物に会ったり、冒険の遊び場で遊んだりすることができます。現在、入場料は1日あたり£9.95（大人・子供は同じ料金）です。農場には行きませんでしたが、農場の入り口近くにある施設でアイスクリームを食べました。犬と一緒に入ることが出来るカフェもあります。農場の店はまた、一見の価値があり、上質の肉だけでなく、豊富な特産品やギフトもあります。

At the lower end of the parkland, there is small a garden centre with its own restaurant and gift shop. We enjoyed a very tasty lunch here and admired the large collection of David Austin roses on sale. 　公園の下端には、小さなガーデンセンターがあり、独自のレストランとギフトショップがあります。ここで非常においしいランチを楽しみ、販売されているデイビッド・オースティンのバラの大コレクションを賞賛しました。

I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed our day at Cannon Hall. We particularly loved our walk through the fairy garden. Spotting some squirrels on the way back to the car park was the icing on the cake to a perfect day. 　本当に楽しい一日でした。特に妖精の庭を散歩するのが大好きでした。駐車場に戻る途中で木の上にリスを発見しました。完璧な一日の完璧な終わりでした。

When you think of wine-making, you probably conjure up images of France, South Africa, Australia, California, Chile etc….but I’m pretty sure that the UK wouldn’t spring to mind. It might surprise you to hear that there are actually more than 500 vineyards across England and Wales producing reds, whites and rosés and wine production in the UK is growing in popularity year by year. In 2017, in fact, almost 6 million bottles of UK-made wine were released for sale, up 31 per cent compared with figures from 2015.  Due to a record harvest in 2018, numbers were expected to be even higher and industry experts predict that by the year 2040, England and Wales could be producing up to 40 million bottles of wine per year! One of those vineyards is in Holmfirth and in July, we had a chance to visit.  ワイン造りについて考えると、おそらくフランス、南アフリカ、オーストラリア、カリフォルニア、チリなどのイメージを思い起こさせるでしょう。しかし、イギリスが思い浮かぶことはきっとないでしょう。実際、イングランドとウェールズには500を超えるブドウ園があり、赤、白、ロゼを生産しており、英国でのワイン生産は年々人気が高まっていると聞いて驚くかもしれません。実際、2017年には、英国製ワインの約600万本が販売され、2015年の数値と比較して31％増加しました。2018年の記録的な収穫により、数字はさらに高くなると予想され、業界の専門家はよると2040年までに、イングランドとウェールズは年間最大4,000万本のワインを生産できるようになる可能性があります。それらのブドウ園の1つはハダスフィールドから車で15分以内のホルムファース市にあります。そして7月に訪問する機会がありました。

Holmfirth is a small town that sits just north of the Peak District in West Yorkshire. The town is maybe best known as the location for a popular BBC TV series “Last of the Summer Wine”, which is the longest-running comedy programme in Britain and the longest-running sitcom in the world. A short walk around the town will bring you to the small exhibition and gift shop dedicated to the production of the programme and a café named after one of the show’s most famous characters. However, with it’s stunning scenery across the Holme Valley, Holmfirth is also popular with walkers and wildlife enthusiasts. A more recent attraction in the area, and listed in the top 5 of things to do there, is the Holmfirth Vineyard.　ホルムファース市は、ウェストヨークシャーのピーク地区のすぐ北にある小さな町です。この町は、BBCの人気テレビシリーズ「ラストオブザサマーワイン」の場所として最もよく知られています。この番組は、イギリスで最も長く続いていたコメディ番組であり、そして世界で最も長く続いているシットコムです。町を少し歩くと、プログラムの制作に特化した小さな展示会やギフトショップ、ショーの最も有名なキャラクターの1人にちなんで名付けられたカフェがあります。しかし、ホルムファースは、ホルム渓谷の見事な景色で、歩行者や野生動物愛好家にも人気があります。さらに、最近では、この地域のトップ5のアトラクションの1つとしてリストされているホルムファースヴィンヤードは、観光客に人気のある目的地になりました。

 

 

Known as the Sheveling Wine Estate, this small vineyard is a family business established on the grounds of an old sheep farm in 2007. The 7000 vines planted painstakingly by hand by the owners themselves, the land presently produces about 12,000 bottles a year, and the wine is currently only available for sale in the on-site restaurant and shop. シェベリングワインエステートと呼ばれるこの小さなブドウ園は、2007年に古い羊牧場の敷地内に設立された家族経営の事業です。所有者自身が手作業で植えた7000本のブドウの木は、現在、年間約12,000本のボトルを生産しています.現在、敷地内のレストランとショップでのみ販売されています。

 

 

You can spend a morning or afternoon finding out how local young entrepreneurs Ian and Becky Sheveling produce these award-winning English wines on their tour and tasting session (reservation necessary at 10 pounds per person)。Or you could have lunch or afternoon tea at the fine restaurant that is open all year round. The views from the enclosed sun terrace are spectacular. The estate has even recently added a venue that can host weddings. I can’t imagine a more beautiful place to exchange vows. 午前または午後にワインツアーとテイスティングセッションに参加し、地元の若い起業家であるイアンとベッキーシェベリングが受賞歴のある英国ワインを生産する方法についてすべて学ぶことができます（1人あたり10ポンドで予約が必要です）。または、一年中営業しているとても素敵なレストランでランチやアフタヌーンティーを楽しむこともできます。ガラス張りのサンテラスからの眺めは壮観です。レストランの隣に、最近、結婚式を開催できる場所が追加されました。誓いを交換するより美しい場所を想像することはできません。
