Have you ever wondered how bone china is made? ボーンチャイナはどんなように作らているのか考えたことがありますか？Yesterday, I took myself off on a study trip to Nagoya and visited the Noritake Garden. 昨日、名古屋にあるノリタケの森へ研修に行ってきました。Given my love of teacups, I’d been promising myself a trip here for a while now and wasn’t disappointed. ティーカップが大好きな私は、ずっと前から行きたかったところでしたが、期待に応えてくれた。Reading about the beginnings of the Noritake company was interesting, but learning all about the techniques used to make bone china was absolutely fascinating. ノリタケの歴史を勉強するのがとても面白かったですし、ボーンチャイナの作り方を自分の目で見るのが本当に魅力的でした。The museum is well organized with explanation boards written in impeccable English and the quite expansive gardens provide a beautiful, peaceful oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. 博物館のレイアウトはよく考えられているし,様々なテクニックについて、分かりやすく英語で書いてある（もちろん日本語にもね。。。）周りのガーデンは広くて、名古屋駅に近いのに、とても静かです。本当に心地が良いところです。I fell in love with some of the beautiful cups on display on the upper floors of the museum, but had to be content with some less expensive items in the Noritake shop! 博物館に飾ってあるティーカップに一目惚れにしましたが、隣にあるノリタケショップに売っている「もう少し」安い物を買って、我慢しました！笑 And of course, a White Rose CCC study trip just wouldn’t be complete without Afternoon Tea in the shop cafe! もちろん、ホワイトローズならではの研修だから、最後に店内のカッフェでアフタヌーンティーを頂いてから帰りの電車にのりました。

Today, a friend posted on Facebook that he couldn’t believe that we were already well into February. 今日は、お友だちがフェースブックページに「もう2月かいな？いつの間に？」と書きました。Seriously! What happened to January?本当に冗談じゃないね。1月どこいった？ Doesn’t seem two minutes since I was posting pictures of Christmas at White Rose. つい最近、クリスマスの写真をアップしていたような気がする。Yet, this week, I found myself taking down the New Year decorations and getting the classroom ready for Valentine’s. でも今週、お正月の飾りを外して、教室をバレンタイン一色に変身させました。Yes, our classroom moves on as quickly as the seasons! そうですね。ホワイトローズの教室の中でも季節感を感じられます。
The first of this year’s Christmas parties is this Saturday! Preparations are underway.

To tea or not to tea…..
Here in Japan it’s a very rainy Tuesday.今日は雨ですね。 I had my first Afternoon Tea lesson of the week and we agreed that a good cup of hot tea is the best, no matter what the weather. 毎週の火曜日にその週の最初のアフタヌーンティーレッスンがあります。’どんな天気でも、紅茶は美味しいですね。。。’と皆が同意しました。 In our classroom, we have a pretty good selection of tea blends and brands.ホワイトローズの教室では色々な紅茶のブレンドやブランドが置いてあります。 Do you have a favourite tea? 好きな紅茶がありますか？ Please feel free to share in the comments. ぜひ、コメント欄に書き込んで,教えてください。In the meantime, here’s a quick look at my gallery of tea-related signs….not that I’m a fan or anything lol. これらは教室に掛けてある様々な紅茶の看板です。。。どんだけ紅茶が好きだろう。。。笑
Yesterday’s trial lesson was a great success and we now officially have another new class beginning in May. 昨日の体験レッスンが無事に行われました。そして、おかげさまで、5月から新たなクラスが決定しました。The teaching schedule is now full and I won’t be adding any more new classes this year. これで今年度のホワイトローズレッスンスケジュールが完成しました。At White Rose, we offer a unique learning experience that is tailored to your needs. ホワイトローズで一人ひとりのニーズに合わせて毎回のレッスンを用意いたします。There are still a few places left in some of our classes so grab them while you can! 現在のクラスの残席がわずかになりましたので、ユニークな学習経験を一度してみたい皆さま、お早めに申し込んでください。
I’ve been so busy these last few months that my cakes have been feeling a bit neglected! I have still been baking though, as usual, for my Afternoon Tea lessons. 最近忙しくて、ケーキのレシピをアップしていなかったですね。でもアフタヌーンティーレッスンのために様々なお菓子作り、いつも通りに挑戦していました。先週、このモルトローフを初めて作って見ました。 Last week, I got a craving for a piece of Malt loaf, something that used to be a favourite of mine. イギリスでモルトローフは定番な間食です。そして小さい頃から、私の大好物でした。モルトローフとは麦芽によって甘味とココアのような色をつけられたパウンドケーキのような見た目のお菓子で、スライスしトーストしてバターを塗ったりとまるでパンのように朝食などで食べられています。食感がものすごくネッチリしていて噛みごたえがあります。 I couldn’t find exactly the right ingredients and I couldn’t find a recipe that was perfect for my needs…so I just made one up! 必要な材料が中々揃えることが出来なかったし、ぴったりなレシピも見つかりませんでしたので、今回レシピを適当に考えて見ました！ The results were not at all bad. It might not taste exactly like the ones you had at home, but, sliced and served with butter, it will do! 結果的には。。。悪くないね！ ドライフルーツが大好きな貴方に特におすすめします。Feel free to check out the recipe. I am so happy to see that this year, our Teens lessons have become extremely popular. Places for our Tuesday and Saturday classes are already sold out.
金曜日の8時のクラスならまだ少し空きがありますので、今ならまだ間に合います。中学校生にピッタリなビギナークラスです。皆さまの電話をお待ちしております。
Our Friday evening, 8 o’clock class still has a couple of places available. This lesson is perfect for a Junior High School beginner or false beginner. Feel free to give us a call.
